SEO Buyer Beware

Why is my google places listing not showing up on searches?
The answer to this is that your Google Places listing needs to be verified and optimized. Why is this important? Google has recently (within 2 months of this posting) merged your Google Maps page listing with your main website listing for many businesses. This makes optimizing your Google Places page all the more important. Here are a few simple steps to make sure that your Google Places page is presenting your business in the correct light:
- Make sure the information on your Google Places page is correct. You’d be surprised how many times its not!
- Double check your phone number and call it just to make sure! iPhone and Android users (and most other smart phones) use Google Places in their directory look-up Apps. You’ll end up getting more calls from your Google Places page than from your website.
- Is your logo and branding present on your Google Places page? Updated imagery can be added once your Google Places page is verified. You can also add videos from YouTube and up to 10 photos.
- What do your reviews say about you? Reputation management is very important to any business so making sure to respond appropriately to reviews lets your patients know that you’re listening.
- Categorize your listing Google uses categories to place your Google Places page on the right searches. Without the proper optimization, your listing won’t have any categories. Where would you like to appear?
