Here's what Google Apps can do:

Communicate. To stay better connected, provide your staff email, calendar and Google Talk accounts that use your own domain name and logo.

  • Email. Google gives you 25 GB of space per account and you can set it up to sync with an email client, such as Outlook. You may also use the web based version to access your mail from any computer or mobile device that has Internet access.
  • Calendar. Set up web based sharing of On Call Schedules, Vacation Calendars, Room Utilization and more.
  • Google Talk. Front desk can now notify nursing of patient arrivals and physicians can request supplies from any exam room.

Collaborate and Publish. Docs & Spreadsheets lets staff share files and collaborate in real-time. The Start Page, branded with your logo, is where staff can preview their email inboxes and calendars. Google Sites, a new feature, can act as your practice or organizational Intranet and allow staff to access documents. View example Intranet site using Google Sites.

Support. Configuration and maintenance is a breeze. It's all hosted by Google, so there's no hardware or software to install, or on an ongoing basis, maintain.

The standard and educational editions are free. There is an ad free premium option available at $50/user per year.
